In
this case, I bring another manipulative material made with recycled material
but to work with third grade of primary school, including again the subject of
mathematics with the plastic one.
In
this case, the children are already quite experienced with what the weight and
the unit of measure of the kilogram mean, but this project helps everyone to
learn how to personally make a weight, which will fascinate them. In addition,
it involves children again in their own learning, so this learning will be
completely meaningful to them.
In
this project, we start by putting the video to the students so that we can take
the data of how to do the craft. Later we will work in groups in the subject of
plastic to carry it out using recycled materials, always with very close help
from the teacher to solve any doubt.
During
this process, in the subject of mathematics they will be working on the
mathematical concepts of the weight and will practice referring to this type of
measurements.
Once
the craft is finished, we will work on the subject of mathematics, carrying out
projects in class using the own weight that they have made, making comparisons
and estimations.
